Be an Active Leader!

An active leader is one that does not sit in an office.  The active leader chooses to engage with team members to actively delegate and negotiate duties.  An active leader provides a strong vision, plan, and prioritized work list to deliver to the organization’s objectives.  An active leader is very open and honest, thus building a foundation for trustworthiness among the team.  An active leader communicates clear and direct while also accepting criticism to improve self-development.  The active leader provides team members opportunities for self-development as well, while eventually providing the foundation for each team member to be a strong leader.

The active leader loves change and is a “Monday” person. What is a Monday person? One that is positive and arrives to work with strong motivation to create a weekly and daily agenda aimed at guiding the team towards small victories that will align to the organization’s vision.  An active leader strives to engage with strong compassion and enthusiasm.

Active leaders coach team members to grow into leaders rather than directs them as a boss.  An active leader is a critical thinker during the coaching process.  They should be able to identify team members strengths and weaknesses to drive optimal results toward the corporate vision.

And lastly, for today’s influential leadership blog, my favorite topic, an active leader must be an influential active leader and provide a level of positive persuasion that drives team members towards successful results.  Influential leadership, as we remember from a previous leadership blog, while focusing on influential communication, motivational techniques, obstacle removal, and team trust, delivers a specific successful result that aligns with a predefined vision or objective.

Active leadership is necessary in all organizations to deliver quality change during competitive times. Active leaders can add many other characteristics to this list above, but I like to keep it simple to start.  Short, yet powerful, lists of characteristics can provide a quicker understanding of the active leader foundation.  Thanks.
