Leadership is Communication

Leadership is Communication

What leader can be successful without clear communication? Strong influential leaders should practice clear communication in all media as follows: Leadership is communication.

  • Verbal;
  • Text;
  • Email;
  • Memos;
  • Video conference; and
  • Reports.

Proofreading tends to fall short in today’s fast-paced business environments.  Leadership cannot expand within an organization without clear communication.  I identify four purposes for communications:

  • Inform;
  • Persuade;
  • Remind; and
  • Consult.

Great leaders will identify the purpose and create an objective for each communication.  Clear communications cannot exist without a purpose and an objective.  Follow up each communication to ensure the correct message is comprehended by the recipient.  This goes a long way to ensure any misunderstandings and delays in expected responses and/or actions.  Thanks.
